A survey completed by Marketforce in January 2016 regarding dining habits of fast food customers reveals that Taco Bueno was the top choice for eating Mexican style food on the go. The poll was concluded using responses of 10,000 customers.
While Taco Bueno is not the largest chain among the pack of contenders, they do have over 180 locations across the United States, and have been around since 1967 when founder Bill Waugh started the business.
Take a look at the chart below to see how well known Mexican fast food chains like Chipotle, Taco Bell and Baja Fresh stack up. Rubios was the clear winner in 2015, but Taco Bueno made some adjustments, or the quality of either food or service has diminished at Rubios.
Of other interesting notes, 10% of customers also revealed that they were unhappy about their last experience eating at a Fast food Mexican restaurant. Other interesting survey findings show that mobile app and digital wallet payments are on the rise as 23% of the people surveyed said they had used this form of payment within the last 90 days of their fast food purchases.
Out of the total of individuals surveyed, 51% of them made more than $50,000 in annual salary. There were more women than men coming in at 68% compared to 32%.
What this information tells us
Big brands that once dominated the market are not always the favorite despite their marketing efforts. Information online that people are reading and disseminating for themselves may be affecting the habits and choices people make more than ever before.
We did however look at some of the reviews of Taco Bueno right in the hometown of the place it began of Abilene Texas and found a rating of 3.4 star rating and 2.7 star rating for two locations. This could be mainly because of mostly unhappy customers going online to leave reviews, or it could be a reflection of how bad the fast food Mexican food industry truly is. Our favorite review by far though was the following.
It’s taco bell with less choices, worse prices, and just as much diarrhea.
How does Taco Bueno stack up against the other Mexican fast food competitors on the list above? We would love to hear about it in the comments below.
